Phoenix Flies Southeast: A Study on the Characteristics of Phoenix Patterns in Southeast Asian Batik along Maritime Silk Road

The phoenix patterns on Southeast Asian Batik are a cross-cultural extension of Chinese phoenix culture, exhibiting diverse visual characteristics. This study first categorizes and analyzes the visual features of phoenix patterns, including those generated by different user groups. Then, it explores the stylized prototypical features of Chinese Ming and Qing dynasty phoenix patterns and the features of multicultural synthesis. Finally, it analyzes the dissemination and recognition of these patterns across different stages, including their role in Chinese diaspora self-identity and dissemination, local acceptance among different social strata, and active integration into local cultural frameworks.
